1. What This Website Is

This private reference site is independent of all government offices. It does not store official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve agency documents, or perform an official record check.

Its purpose is to identify the custodians of Barnwell County records, including local law enforcement, trial and summary courts, SLED Criminal Justice Information Services, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool. Some pages also connect visitors with outside search services.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of this site is conditioned on the following restrictions. A visitor must not:

• Use automated scraping, bots, or similar tools against site pages
• Violate any applicable federal, state, or local law
• Threaten, stalk, or harass another person with information found here
• Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
• Seek unauthorized access to any system or account
• Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information from this site or a linked service to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. South Carolina treats registry misuse seriously. S.C. Code §23-3-510 can enhance punishment when registry information is used to commit a crime. SORT exists for public safety awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce credit files, background checks, or consumer reports. The same is true of the services offered here by advertising partners. Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to:

• Evaluate employment or termination
• Review a rental or housing application
• Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
• Determine eligibility for a benefit, license, or permit
• Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

Any legally permitted screening for those purposes must use an appropriate official or FCRA-compliant provider, not this site.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a South Carolina charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement law applies to a particular person. Consult a licensed South Carolina attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All material and services are offered "as is." No warranty is made that:

• A partner's search results will be complete or correct
• The site will operate without interruption
• Every page is free of errors or security flaws
• Information will always be complete, accurate, or current

Criminal records change when charges are filed, resolved, sealed, or expunged. Updates can lag. Nothing published here is an official statement or certified record from a court, sheriff, SLED, or another public body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to courts, sheriff and police pages, South Carolina agencies, legal resources, and outside search companies. Those destinations are beyond our control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, charges, or handling of visitor data. Review their terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, code, and logos belong to Barnwell County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, redistributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that visitor's site use or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in South Carolina. Public-record access remains governed separately by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, and SLED criminal-history dissemination follows S.C. Code §§23-3-110 through 23-3-130.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or restrict access at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
